Review of Things We Lost in the Fire (2007) by Henrik O — 07 Apr 2010
A movie in which Benicio Del Toro gives a great performance. Halle Berry also does her role well as the grieving widow whom, because of her loss, has lost her footing. The movie's strength is that although Del Toro's character is a heroin user he still is portrayed as a human being with both strengths and flaws.
The movie also touches on the subject of personal growth through hard times. Berry's character finds that in others she can find her own pain and ways to deal with the loss and grow from it. The same process happens to Del Toro's character.
This is a good movie about being human.
