Review of Things We Lost in the Fire (2007) by Raggamuffin G — 23 Oct 2008
I am compelled to write a review about this film.. yes, IT IS THAT GOOD! To start off, Benicio del Toro's performance as the heroin-addict-struggling-to-kick-the-habit Jerry is unforgettable (hence my current obsession with this amazing actor).
His screen presence is so powerful you will be hypnotized. I guess it would be fair to say that he has given life to this movie. All those unexpected little quirks and gestures he has so effectively infused make his character that much more human.
He is Jerry Sunborne. It is amazing as well how he manages to look totally wasted in a certain scene and absolutely gorgeous the next. Heck, even Halle Berry, on particular scenes, seemed intent on devouring him alive.
Wait, did I mention how amazing this guy is? :) His genuine rapport with David Duchovny who plays his best friend, Brian, is adorable to watch. Equally endearing is the way his character interacts with the kids.
This film provides an insight on friendship, loyalty and hope. And of course, the amazingness that is Benecio del Toro (LOLS).
