Review of Thin (2006) by Stéfanie D — 12 Aug 2007
This movie is painfully hard to watch. Emotional and poignant, the documentary follows several girls battling eating disorders. Though it gives the viewer a true look inside what it's like to suffer from an illness of this sort, it offers no hope or glimpse of hope.
It's true that the majority of those with an eating disorder relapse, this film doesn't focus much on the why's. There are many factors that contribute to an eating disorder, and this film lacks a more well rounded and global approach.
Look for Beauty Mark to be released soon to offer what this film so desperately lacks.
