Review of Thieves Like Us (1974) by Sherry L — 17 Dec 2009
Robert Altman's Thieves Like Us is a touching little boring film. It's touching because we have two characters who come from the Great Depression who fall in love and drink a lot of Coca-Cola. Keith Carradine has two other friends and they enjoy robbing banks and playing robbers at home with the small kids.
At first it might sound like a Bonnie and Clyde type of story but its not as once again Altman is more interested in characters and their behaviors Altman is a fillmmaker not into plots. I didn't enjoy this film it is really slow and is difficult to sit down and enjoy.
Thieves Like Us is well edited, and well shot but even good looking pictures has their faults even this one.
