Another John Carpenter classic, not quite up there with Escape From NY, the Thing or Big Trouble in Little China, but close enough. While watching this I found there to be many disturbing parallels between the themes and messages of the story and what's going on in today's society.
The idea that the top 1% are actually aliens, using television, the media and money to brainwash and enslave the remaining 99% is at this point actually pretty plausible.
