Review of Thesis (1996) by Angel B — 05 Nov 2015
A serviceable thriller that gets extra points for nostalgia of growing up in the 90s. Snuff film craze was going on and the media was beginning its fruitful adventures into more violence on the evening news.
Don't look for realism much or you'll drive yourself up the wall with the "but why aren't you calling the police by now?" moments. These people are dumb and on their own Carmen Sandiego fucking Sherlock Holmes adventure and it helps in the twists and turns despite it being fairly obvious the entire time what's going on.
About a half hour too long as well but Amenábar has a deft hand in creating good tension in forwarding the plot to its eventful conclusion.
