Review of There's Something About Mary (1998) by Amjad A — 16 Apr 2013
Okay, so I realise this film is in my top 50 favourite movies list, and the reason why is because it was just so brilliantly done. The Farrely brothers create a film that is a perfect combination of tongue in cheek romance and gross out humour.
Cameron Diaz and Ben Stiller both deliver the greatest performances of there somewhat limited careers, and the supporting cast all do a brilliant job as well. It starts out with a typical nerdy guy/beautiful girl high school prom story, but then progresses into an over the top, outrageous coming of age story that deals with many serious issues, but never takes itself seriously.
A SOLID 4/5. Perhaps the greatest pure comedy of the 90's. Highly reccomended.
