Review of There Will Be Blood (2007) by Matt L — 24 Jan 2013
There Will Be Blood offers an edgy cinematic experience with powerhouse performances from Paul Dano and especially Daniel Day-Lewis. While the plot seems simplistic, it touches greed, capitalism, deception, religion and, of course, blood, which all play important roles and reinforcing the characters played by Dano and Day-Lewis.
Movies with sporadically engaging narrative structure can be hard to get into, but Paul T. Anderson does it right with outstanding direction, incorporating stunning cinematography and a pulse-pounding soundtrack.
This may as well be Anderson's best movie. Bloody (pun intended) well-done.
