Review of There Will Be Blood (2007) by James K — 12 May 2013
A bleak, brutal vision, 'There Will Be Blood' is a stark, uncompromising masterpiece. Its central character---played to perfection by Daniel Day-Lewis---is a beast of a man, as brilliant and ambitious as he is merciless and violent.
From the striking cinematography to the haunting score, the artistry on display here is stunning. Paul Thomas Anderson, already a director of considerable skill, elevates his craft to another level entirely.
The result: a visceral, unrelenting picture that already feels timeless.
