Review of There Will Be Blood (2007) by Liam C — 12 Aug 2013
This movie truly is a masterpiece, even the first ten minutes alone could have been a short as it tells a story of its own. It's just a work of art. Complaints can stem from people saying, not much happens or too much talking. The story isn't really important as it is what it is. One man going from place to place to earn money and to hell with anyone in his way. Movies of this length and onward need to earn the right to be as long as it is, and this movie did. It was 100% enjoyable and Daniel Day-Lewis is the next best thing since Marlon Brando. He really is. I could just say over and over again what an amazing actor he is but I'm trying to sum it up. When things happened to the characters it actually affects you because you're invested in these characters because of how three dimensional they are.
Paul Dano's character could get annoying sometimes but that was the point and I'm not saying it was a bad performance because it wasn't. The music was intimidating and the tone for the movie was just overall sinister, you see at one point an oil well being created and it just feels evil. Another thing people seem to not like is the ending, jus take it for what you will, I liked it. All I could say about this is that it is perfect and you need to see it. This review would just be nothing but positive gushing after that.
