Review of There Will Be Blood (2007) by Matthew F. J — 09 Oct 2013
I've seen this film when it first came out at the movies & I having re-watched it recently I can honestly say this is a great film. Extremely well written, directed with a lot of attention to details & acted marvelously by Daniel Day-Lewis & Paul Dano, two very unlikable characters with their own level of greed, power & profit making.
It's hard to analyze this film because nothing & nobody is really black or white, the events are taking place in harsh times, when people were truly poor & desperate and so much tougher than anyone can be nowadays.
I really enjoyed the film for all these reasons, it's a tough film to watch, but it's well done, it avoids all the usual narrative cliché used by Hollywood & has it's own special pace, vibe whatever you wanna call it, that makes this film completely unique in the contemporary film making landscape.
