Review of There Will Be Blood (2007) by Daniel S — 19 Dec 2013
As with most of PT Anderson's work, the film believes it's groundbreaking and earth shattering, but it doesn't actually say anything real about humanity besides "greed corrupts". No duh.
Daniel Day Lewis is excellent, as is Paul Dano, but the story they're supposed to be communicating is dull and pointless, with a self indulging length of 2 and a half hours, very little of which it actually uses to advance it's plot.
It's frenzied, obnoxious score only distracts from the film, and really, there's very little about the film as a whole that's worth watching. There are moments that will stick with me, but the film as a whole was a huge disappointment.
