Review of There Will Be Blood (2007) by Joyce F — 03 Jun 2015
"You're not my son, you're just a bastard from a basket" - Daniel Plainview as he yelled to his adopted son H.W. Amazing and a very powerful film with such powerful performances. I was stunned the whole time when things started to shake up.
With top notch performances, and brilliant acting! Award winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis deserves everything. He is just an amazing actor overall. You don't need a good old fashion, romance to have an award winning formula.
This one says it all. It is based on the novel "Oil!", which involves a silver miner-turned-oilman on a ruthless quest for wealth during the early 19th century. Each character in this film has its memorable performances as they portrayed it very well.
Paul Sano as Eli, this guy is like this crazy false prophet who wants to convince Daniel to join in a religious group and to be cleansed, as he wants him to admit his sins. He did a one hell of a performance.
The cinematography is breathtaking. The beautiful shots of the ranch in Texas. And when that gas exploded into flames, that shot is wonderful, wonder how they did it. The last scenes where Eli confronts with Daniel is like acting level 9999.
Magnificent job by Mr. Paul Thomas Anderson, he made this one a true epic that we will never forget. 5/5.
