Review of There Will Be Blood (2007) by Bob R — 10 Aug 2013
There Will Be Blood is a great study on one Daniel Plainview, a greedy, narcissistic, hateful man who only cares about drilling for oil. He uses his young son H.W to appeal to ranch owners by preaching his supposed family man beliefs.
All lies for the sake of money and power. The directing is fantastic, as well as a flawless performance from Day-Lewis and a solid job done by Paul Dano. The tension constantly rises throughout this film, leaving a looming feeling of doom.
It`s as if the shrills throughout the film arent there to signal immediate danger or action, but rather Plainview going crazier by the minute. The film moves slow, but is interesting enough to keep you pulled in with the exception of an important yet molasses-esque final act.
There Will Be Blood is an ambitious, riveting American Drama, powered by Daniel-Day Lewis in the lead performance of a life time.
