Review of Then She Found Me (2007) by Susan R — 22 Sep 2008
This movie had potential and a few interesting scenes but ultimately failed in overall execution of style. Hunt should be commended as it is her directorial debut but the dialogue was what ultimately sank this film.
It tired to have an 'indie' feel but gave way to stereotypical conventions especially in the scenes with Midler. An interesting voice emerged in Hunt's character regarding the issues adopted children face when confronted with their birth parents.
I would have loved to see that explored in more depth. Firth gave the best all 'round performance; Broderick was wasted completely. Hunt should keep directing and maybe not act in the film. It's hard to do both and be effective.
