This book was quite good, but the movie really thoroughly butchered the plot, adding and subtracting elements and characters, taking it in directions that lost the essence of the story. The end result was really quite depressing.
The one star is for the one laugh I had from the movie--and it was quite early in my viewing. Save your time--just read the book.
