Review of Thelma & Louise (1991) by Max S — 18 Feb 2012
Engaging, beautifully shot, often funny, and energetically acted and directed, Thelma and Louise is one of the better "rebel on-the-run" films. It features great performances from Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon, as well as underrated character actors such as Harvey Keitel (even a minor role from Brad Pitt). The script is one that actually takes time to develop characters, the relationship between Susan and Geena is always beliable, and often relatable. It's an undeniably compelling narrative that still resonates today. As for the ending, I loved what Ridley Scott was going for, but disliked how he chose to show/shoot the sequence.
4/5 Stars.
