Review of Thelma & Louise (1991) by Robert C — 28 Feb 2010
Sarandon and Davis do a spectacular job in this crime/road trip -movie that is worth its status as a modern classic. This was a cornerstone of sorts in the way Hollywood depicted women, and its influence on American cinema was a welcome one in a time when even the most talented female stars were way too often playing crying housewives or dimensionless sex symbols.
Sharp, sassy, entertaining, yet tender and contemplative, this adventure has a lot to offer to a varied audience. And even if this flick was certainly not the first to feature strong and deep female leads, it was certainly a hit. And one of the shiniest gems from Ridley Scott's uneven career.
