Review of Their Finest (2017) by Alison M — 11 May 2017
I found this film generally disappointing and lacking in period credibility. The screenwriters aren't sure whether it's a comedy or a tragedy. The story is full of odd and implausible characters and at no point does the script rise above the corny level of the interior 'drama': a cheesy story of plucky people participating in the Dunkirk rescue.
It occurred to me that perhaps this is deliberate quirkdom, but the critics don't pick on it.
