Review:

What the hell is this film about? I completely lost interest in this film because I didn't like the feel and tone of the whole thing. The whole plot doesn't really unfold until Matt Damon explains what the hell is happening, but by that point, I wasn't that interested. The acting is somewhat strange and mysterious from Waltz and the rest of the cast, but it's not due to there lack of ability. It's purely down to Terry Gilliams warped sense of direction that let this film down, like many of his earlier projects, and it was a total waste of some top class actors. I would have to watch it again to get the gist of the plot, but I would have to be totally bored to do so. If there was a moral to the story then please let me know because it felt like a total waste of time. Disappointing!

Christophe Waltz has really come to light since his Oscar winning performance in Inglorious Basterds and other terrific roles in movies like Django Unchained and Carnage. I do like his warped sense of humour and he always gives his all in his performances, but this movie was really terrible. The sets were really colourful and over the top and the costumes we're striking and out of this world. I did get the whole meaning of the world type of concept, but the plot gets a bit out of hand after a while which made me drift off. Terry Gilliam hasn't really made a good movie since Twelve Monkeys and The Fisher King, which is a shame because they are all time classics that shows that he has the ability to make some great movies. Anyway, for a 2 hour movie, you really need to be in the right frame of mind to keep up with this film, if you can be bothered to.

I recommend this movie to people who are into there mysterious futuristic movies about a man trying to find out the meaning of life. 2/10.
