Review of The Zero Theorem (2013) by David M — 15 Mar 2014
53%? Really? A film as brain-curdlingly insane and fresh as this received such a miserly rating. Some people's minds can't handle such a psychedelic journey into a future where ridiculousness and commerce-gone-mad has taken the place of technological advancement and futuristic intelligence. It's not distopia; it's inanity, and it's remarkably satisfying.
There is, of course, a narrative. It's just embedded so deeply into a blanket of artistic madness that it's easily overlooked. This kind of future actually strikes a chord, as often society does seem to be heading toward the bizarre!
Fantastic film. Just what Gilliam promised to deliver. Watch it, then try to re-puzzle your brain back together. 10/10.
