Review of The Young Victoria (2009) by Manny C — 16 Nov 2010
Emily Blunt radiates amazing grace and integrity as the famed Queen Victoria in this mostly by the numbers bio-pic from director Jean-Marc Vallee. We first see the young queen as a teenager, unsure of whether she even wants to be queen, but also keenly aware she'll have the burden anyway, illustrated brilliantly by the scene of her staring in the mirror, knowing that the death of her father, William IV, brings about a new responsibility.
Her gaze is enchanting. It shows Blunt as one of today's best young actresses.
