The main problem with this is that it's pretty pointless. Of the period-dramas I've seen (about the monarch or not), this probably takes the cake in terms of the least dramatic life experienced.
Or maybe it's just all been done before. Either case, because of it's "boring" nature, it seems to drag in parts. It's unfortunate because it's got an impressive cast, but ultimately leaves you underwhelmed.
