If you ever wondered why Brando was considered sexy, watch this film. Dean Martin was actually convincing in this WWII film, and that's the real shocker. It's also the first film that gave me some insight as to how the Nazis and Hitler managed to seduce an entire nation.
Living in one of the most conservative countries in Europe, I can understand why a bright and capable watchmaker's son would do what he did. It's an intelligent, well crafted, film. Fair but not relativistic.
