Review of The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974) by Jacob M — 12 Dec 2013
While it's by no means a masterpiece in Rankin/Bass standards, especially when the show manages to focus more on drama than fun comedy, I still liked The Year Without a Santa Claus. The stop-motion animation is brilliant, the voice casting is well-done (especially Mickey Rooney as Santa Claus), and the characters are unforgettable (especially the Miser Brothers, Snow Miser and Heat Miser, who have an extremely catchy song that's still stuck in my head as I'm currently typing).
The little girl singing "Blue Christmas" was too depressing for my tastes. It would have been more enjoyable had they used the Elvis Presley version.
