Review of The Year of Living Dangerously (1982) by Ernest M — 07 Dec 2007
Another Mel Gibson movie... he has turned out to be a raving lunatic, but man can he pick great movies. Sigourney Weaver is great, Linda Hunt is spectacular and Mel Gibson is wonderful. This cast works like so few others ever could.
The heat of the island nation getting ready to live the hell that is a civil war is palpable, as is the love and lust between these two people. Their feelings for each other are the symbol for a nation being torn by idealism and the struggle of so many trying to get out the grips of sheer poverty.
