Review of The Year of Living Dangerously (1982) by Kyle K — 28 Nov 2008
Before The Quiet America and The Killing Fields, there was The Year of Living Dangerously.
The plot is occasionally slow, but this film has superb atmosphere, and features one of Sigourney Weaver's most natural performances yet. If a person could name any singular reason to see it, I suggest Linda Hunt's outstanding performance. She brings all the wisdom, power, and good (if blind) intentions to her role. Linda Hunt received the first Oscar ever awarded to someone for portraying a character of the opposite sex.
