Review of The Year My Parents Went on Vacation (2006) by Robert C — 22 Jul 2008
I really appreciated the combination of a simple children's tale of a little boy being left behind with a much more mature political agenda. It's always a good idea to tell a simple story to allow the audience to appreciate everyday life in a different culture. The film starts to become tedious, however, when the two plots begin to slowly become more defined and different from one another. By the time the protagonist finally gets what's he's looking for, the journey of what could've been thirty minutes, ended up taking almost two hours. An interesting piece nonetheless.
