Review of The Yards (2000) by Sharyn H — 30 Dec 2008
I really wanted to like this film because many of my favourite actors are in it and it's not your typical Hollywood piece of fluff.
But the films script is so preposterous, with one unbelievable scenario after another, that even the most open minded viewer would find it difficult to suspend disbelief. For example, despite Wahlbergs character being wanted for murder and attempted murder he is easily able to visit his family on more than one occasion. I would think that even the most inept police department would have a wanted murderers family under surveillance.
The film also lacked any fully realised characters, resulting in my not caring about what happened to anyone in the entire film.
