Review of The Yards (2000) by Raechel B — 18 Oct 2008
Wow, you know what. I didn't expect this one to be as good as what it was. Of course I had no doubts but still. This film is really really good. Mark's acting preformance is something very memorable. The storyline keeps you on the edge and there are certain scenes where the suspense is fantastic. I, for some reason especially love the scene where Leo and Willy are fighting - that would have be the number one fight scene I've ever seen. No seriously. No kidding.
So down to the bottom line. A very energetic drama which catches you almost off guard and it's even a smart storyline. There are dramas which are just plain drama but this one is like a suspense drama - it's a great atmosphere. One other thing, Mark uses his eyes & voice to express 'feeling' more than he does facial expression. He does that so well, the eyes really convey his thought [in-character]. I'd also have to praise Joaquin in this preformance.
So without further a-do I'd have to say I really enjoyed it - it was worth staying up very late for, even my brother would agree. Have to try find the DVD one day :).
