Review of The Wrong Guy (1997) by Ron M — 08 Feb 2008
This is one of the funniest movies of all time. I'm pretty sure it's a Canadian production what with all the Canadian acting content.
Dave Foley plays a man on the run for a murder that he did not commit, even though the police know it was not him. Basically, this is a cat and mouse, and mouse movie with law enforcement, a killer and a wrong guy all looking out for one another. One of the lead detectives on the case for the killer is sure Foley's character is a woman and keeps referring to him as such; this may not sound funny in type, but it's hilarious.
Also, when I rented this movie some nine years ago a caption on the box read, "Grab the tissues, because you'll laugh till you cry." Or something to that affect. And sure enough, every time I've seen it since then there is one scene that ALWAYS makes me laugh till I have tears coming from my eyes. That in itself should make you want to check it out.
There's also a brief, but fantastic scene, between Foley and fellow Kids in the Hall alumni Kevin Macdonald. Also, the Tilley sister (is it Jen or Meg) ain't hard on the eyes.
Check it out and I personally guarantee you will laugh a lot.
