Review of The Wrestler (2008) by Ethan W — 12 Nov 2011
A fantastic film, anchored by Mickey Rourke's compassionate and completely believable performance. It's one of those films that I can watch over and over again, because everything in it works. The cinematography is gritty and striking, the 80's soundtrack totally suits the "stuck in another era" theme that runs through Rourke's characterization, all the actors bring their A-game and the script is tight and efficient.
A must-see. Definitely one of the best films of 2008.
