Review of The Wrestler (2008) by Chris R — 30 May 2012
It's a rare thing when a movie can take you down memory lane, yet only manage to land on most of the good memories that involved watching Pay-Per-View Wrestling at a "rich" friends house, or someone who knew how to get it for free back then lol.
Memories aside, this movie really captured the essence of American Pro Wrestling and I really like that it focused on the camaraderie these Wrestlers had in real life, and how good natured they were outside of the ring.
I would think that the "aging" Stripper was a little off, considering the whole "MILF" craze, yet it was a good comparison of very similar fields. Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei really looked like they had a thing for each other, and that's what you call acting....
The father/daughter scenes brought me to tears, and over all it was just a great movie. I'm glad I watched it!
