Review of The Wrestler (1984) by Trystan C — 23 Jul 2012
To avoid getting teary-eyed again at just the though of this movie, I'm going to riddle this review with wrestling metaphors and analogies: Mickey Rourke body-slams you with emotion in this subtle piledriver of a masterpiece from Darren Aronofsky.
Where last year's best actor Daniel Day Lewis performed with astounding metaphorical theatrics (like The Undertaker), Mickey Rourke (who should undoubtedly take the gold this year) goes beyond acting (like Stone Cold Steve Austin) to a point where, if you didn't know any better, you'd think this could be a documentary.
Sort of like what you think of the WWE when you're six years old.
