Review of The Wrestler (1984) by Jeffrey G — 13 Aug 2012
This is a beautiful, poignant film with an absolutely mesmerizing performance by Mickey Rourke (!). Completely evocative of its time and place, 100% true in its portrayal of its characters and ideas, The Wrestler is without question one of the years finest films.
Yes, the ending will annoy many viewers, but I think it's just right. A touching, heartfelt and honest ode to real people and real struggles.
