Review of The Wrestler (1984) by Joe R — 28 Aug 2012
Where do I start, lets start with the big man himself Mickey Rourke. What a job. He's gotten a bit of a bad rap with audiences- or maybe just my mom who was saying he sucks- well he was flawless here. Played the role of his life, alongside Marisa Tomei, and other than some of the awkward strip club scenes she was just as good and in my view; she held the glue together to make this movie what it was in the acting standpoint. Darren never disappoints. Ok? Simple. The guy is a movie making genius. All the way up to the ending, start to finish it's like Mickey is right there with you in that sometimes his hand is on your shoulder, sometimes you're fighting him, no matter what point it is in the film, you fell his heart, and you feel his pain, and trust me when I say this: You feel this movie.
One more thing: Bruce Springsteen's a Boss. 5/5.
