Review of The Wrestler (1971) by Steven A — 16 Jan 2012
An intense character study about the difference between the dreams we have for life versus the often brutal reality (that cuts like a dull knife - on a good day) and that inevitable realisational moment of, as they say, agonizing reappraisal when we finally acknowledge the difference, with atomic performances by the main cast to carry the message home.
Exemplary filmmaking.
