Review of The World's Greatest Lover (1977) by Ashley H — 26 Jan 2004
Here I go again! It's time for my review of a movie I've seen so many times I've lost counting:The World's Greatest Lover! A rather crazy story about Rudy Hick man and his wife, Annie, who move from Milwaukee to Hollywood, as Rudy aspires to win a contest that Rainbow Studios is responsible for; he's going to become the world's greatest lover. In the process, he changes his surname from Hickman to Valentine, mistakes a transvestite named Ludwig for Greta Garbo, and accidentely starts cuddling with a strange man on the train (Rudy mistakes him for his wife. They're all wrapped up in blankets). I'm not gonna tell you what happens next, but it's a very funny film. Gene Wilder somehow seems to be the Jim Carrey of the seventies, and he portrays the nutty Mr Valentine well. I rate him a 7/10 and "The world's Greatest Lover" an 8/10. Dom DeLuise is also well worth seeing as the not so well balanced owner of Rainbow Studios.:fresh: .
