Review of The World's Fastest Indian (2005) by Mikko H — 20 Mar 2008
Good-natured, if overlong, biopic sticks to the "inspirational drama" playbook and doles out the folksy homilies and requisite quirky characters. Hopkins' straight-shooting Kiwi is bewitched by accomodating Americana as he seeks to break the land-speed record with a homemade jalopy.
The results are predictable, but Donaldson captures the thrill of life at 200 mph and the alien terrain of the Salt Flats. Too-rare "family fare" that won't melt your brain or tempt your gag reflex.
