Review of The World's End (2013) by Ian B — 22 Apr 2014
The World's End is a fitting conclusion to the brilliant "cornetto trilogy" and further proof that Pegg, Frost and Wright are one of the best movie making teams of this generation. Although not quite as funny as Shaun of the Dead, or as well written as Hot Fuzz, this is still an extremely entertaining movie with a handful of gut-busting moments.
It's creative, heartfelt, stylish, action packed, hilarious...the list goes on. The cast is pitch perfect and I was amazed at the fight choreography on display here. This is truly inventive and original filmmaking.
Unfortunately the movie loses a bit of steam in the third act, and the ending has definitely divided fans. Despite the minor flaws, this is still a fantastic ride and will leave everyone hoping these three continue to make movies together.
