Review of The World's End (2013) by Rafael C — 19 Mar 2014
Don't feel excluded if you haven't seen the zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead and the buddy cop comedy Hot Fuzz... because The World's End stands on its own as hilarious high-end nonsense. To me, it is not quite up to the level of their previous films ('Shaun of the Dead' and 'Hot Fuzz') but it is still good enough to recommend but also the most inventive, humane comedy in ages, probably the best-directed action film of the summer, and easily the most intelligent science-fiction story in a year lousy with the things.
Pegg and Frost are great (again) and for me it's Frost who gets the bragging rights playing a very mature role and proves he's a good actor. The rest of the cast are secondary but still good and Edgar Wright has once again proved he's a brilliant director and writer (again with Pegg).
Great special effects and nice to see my nearby town used in the film. Stunts are great too. Wonderful film to finish the trilogy...hope they do another three, though we've been told it's their last.
..shame. The ending was boring but the rest of the film is great. I hope they do more together.
