Review of The World's End (2013) by Yasmin T — 28 Feb 2014
Can't believe I didn't have a review for this. One of my favorite comedies of 2013. Edgar Wright and company prove to provide the wit and heart sure to leave an impact on you as a viewer. Simon Pegg's Gary King is someone that could never move on beyond his glory days as a fun-loving college student.
The premise is a bit odd, but it makes sense as the gang tries their best to evade the assimilation-based threat. It's definitely more enjoyable to view this movie as someone who has seen the previous Cornetto flicks (Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz), but this is perfectly enjoyable I would imagine going in pretty fresh.
I say kudos to Wright and any fight/stunt coordinators for making a guy of Nick Frost's physical form look like a badass action star. Very impressive choreography and directing in this clever comedy.
Definitely recommend.
