Review of The World's End (2013) by Salman F — 30 Jun 2018
Unpopular opinion incoming: I actually think this movie's better than Shaun of the Dead. I'll always consider Hot Fuzz to be Edgar Wright's best film and I still really like Scott Pilgrim and Baby Driver (and Ant-Man).
It sends a good lesson to older teens and adults about not getting overdosed on nostalgia and Simon Pegg's character goes through a decent amount of character development. It's deliciously ironic how Nick Frost is the sane man while Simon Pegg is the manchild.
The action is a ton of fun, as is to be expected from an Edgar Wright movie, the special effects look good and the humour is great as always. All leading to an unexpected ending. And I mean unexpected.
With great action, comedy and heart, The World's End is a fun conclusion to the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy.
