Review of The World Is Not Enough (1999) by David S — 28 Jun 2009
Not a great Bond film but not the worst either. What's so depressing about a lot of the 80's and 90's Bond films is that they were just so average. Here we have another poor villain in Robert Carlisle (just not scary enough and not enough screen time with Bond) a sexy femme fatale in Sophie Marceau (wasted but stunning) and the most ludicrous nuclear scientist ever in Denise Richards (great body but lousy actress).
Robbie Coltrane is back again and a lot of fun but killed off for no good reason. Desmond Llewelyn is back for the final time as Q as has a touching final line with Bond but unfortunately we are introduced to his terrible replacement in John Cleese.
Judi Dench looks out of sorts and we have some of the worst puns of the series. Not really any sort of recommendation but the series about to get a lot worse before it got better.
