Review of The World Is Not Enough (1999) by Daniel C — 15 Oct 2011
Following on from my favourite Brosnan Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies, I expected more from The World Is Not Enough. Certainly having Denise Richards in it was a good start but rewatching the movie 12 years later it doesn't hold up as well and isn't as memorable as it could have been.
007 protects Elektra King from Renard, her former kidnapper and a man who feels no pain due to a bullet in his head. There's oil pipelines in jeopardy and a nuclear bomb aboard a submarine. All the ingredients are there for a good Bond movie and the final scenes of Desmond Llewelyn's Q are quite touching. Still, the movie doesn't stand out with no car chase scene, the BMW hardly gets used and while the opening boat chase sequence was good, seeing Bond pursue in a boat, on LAND was a bit ridiculous.
But... it is a Bond movie after all!
