Review of The World Is Not Enough (1999) by Jon C — 20 Nov 2012
For 1999:
A Bond movie that really takes a more personal route.
007 confronts an old enemy and is juggling saving the smuggle of the world's oil supply.
Elektra King was kidnapped years ago then escaped her captor, the terrorist Renard.
Years go by and her father is murdered but no one knows who the real culprit is.
Bond along with Christmas Jones embark on a mission to uncover the truth, meanwhile M is thrown into the midst of all that's going on.
This movie however much the critics are pandering it for the plot and acting still retains itself for incredible action scenes, high-speed chases and both Bond girls.
Renard serves as a tough adversary for Bond being that he can't feel pain but Bond is never one to quit.
Coltrane also makes a return as Valentine which is a fun thing.
Pierce Brosnan still brings out the fun style of playing 007 making him so slick, charming and at certain points very serious.
The climax was a letdown for me this time around, no real big shootouts or anything.
But 'World' is a fun, explosive ride to take.
