Review of The World Is Not Enough (1999) by Raji K — 01 Feb 2014
For the third time Brosnan returns as 007 in The World is Not Enough. Unfortunately what didn't return with him was a really good script. We have the first female Bond lead, who serves better than the last villain, but in return we have one of the worst Bond girls in the series with Denise Richards. The action scenes really do not stand out either aside from the opening boat chase.
Bond Girl - 1/5.
Denise Richards though a bombshell in her own right, she one of the worst actresses in the series. Her acting job is terrible and all of her lines are terribly delivered. Ironically she is supposed to be one of the smartest Bond girls.
Gadgets - 3/5.
See through classes, inflatable jackets, and a Visa card lock pick highlight this film. They aren't the most memorable gadgets, but they get Bond through the various jams in this film. We also unfortunately see the last viewing of Q.
Villains- 3/5.
Renard is the muscle and we have the first female Bond lead villain. Renard is somewhat stupid and he cannot feel pain. This was.
A way to make him unique, and it just was not enough to really save this film. Marceau as the lead was sexy and coy, and.
An interesting chance of pace to the Bond villains.
Music - 3/5.
Garbage somehow gets the nod in the song The World is Not Enough. A good band for sure, but they seemed to land this a bit past the height of their popularity. The song is well song, but just above average that does not stand out too much compared to the others in the series.
