Review of The World Is Not Enough (1999) by Ken S — 27 Nov 2012
Forgettable Bond movie is made worse by the most idiotic casting of Denise Richards as a scientist. It almost feels at times like the budget is too small for a film this size...like a climax is in a couple of rooms but we are meant to think the stakes are much higher.
Carlyle's villain is underused, which is a shame. Mostly the film just lacks a lot of what it needed to make it work. It is also the last film to feature Desmond Llewelyn as Q, and introduces John Cleese as R (who becomes Q in the next film).
..at the very least the film did a good job of giving his long running character a decent send-off. Unfortunately due the rest of the movie...kind of hard to recommend.
