Review of The Words (2012) by Tyler R — 07 Feb 2014
Smart, witty, clever, and great. Those words are the polar opposite of what The Words is. The film follows a writer as he steals another man's story for his own success. I wish that was all there was, I really do.
But there's a love story, another author (This film plays Inception with it's stories), a semi(?)-love story, and a bunch of other plot lines that the film tries to balance in a slim hour and a half.
The problem is that it never balances anything. The acting is good, and the film boasts an impressive cast, but man, talk about wasted. They're given a script that chases it's tail in circles, but wears sunglasses because it thinks it's being cool.
This was a painfully bad film that was much more complicated than it had any right to be.
