Review of The Words (2012) by M H — 13 Sep 2012
It was a pretty concept. But it just wasn't that polished. I think the weak link was the Dennis Quaid and Olivia Wilde storyline. I really didn't give a crap about them. I think it would have been better just as the Rory Jansen (Bradley Cooper) and the Old Man (Jeremy Irons/Ben Barnes) storyline. The other thing, is that it feels like there was no real plot, or climax. It felt like reading a short story or something. It felt like something was missing. It had potential...it really did.
As for performances, I think Bradley really shines here. Jeremy Irons was effing hilarious. Ben Barnes was also a highlight. Zoe was ok. I wasn't underwhelmed but she didn't amaze me either. Again Dennis and Olivia were the weak links.
Overall, it was good. Not amazing...it just needed something more to it.
